Man stranded on scooter due to water-logging under tunnel amid heavy rainfall in southern India

A rider found himself trapped under a tunnel after heavy rain caused severe water logging in southern India’s Tamil Nadu, leaving his scooter immobilized on the flooded road.

The incident took place in Chennai and the video went viral on October 30.

Visuals showed a rider standing beside his scooter, trapped under a tunnel due to waterlogging on the road. He grips the scooter’s handle, attempting to navigate through the flooded path. The water reaches mid-calf, reflecting the dim light from the tunnel above. He struggles to maintain his balance as he wades through the murky water, debris floating around him. The scene is chaotic, with puddles splashing as he takes each step, determination etched on his face despite the challenging conditions.

After a brief lull, many parts of the city on Tuesday evening received moderate rain.

According to an IMD bulletin, the city and the suburbs are likely to receive light rain over some areas. Skies may be partly cloudy, and the maximum temperature is likely to be 34°C-35°C, with minimum of 26°C-27°C.

This is because the easterlies, which changed to westerlies with Cyclone Dana active over the Bay of Bengal, may return on Thursday. Wind speeds, however, may be low.
