Unique protest! Man wraps himself in chain of complaints at collector’s office in central India

In a bizarre incident in Central India’s Madhya Pradesh, a man adopted a unique way to protest against alleged corruption by wrapping himself in a long chain of applications and documents at the Collector’s office.

The incident took place in Neemuch district on September 3.

Visuals showed the individual, Mukesh, crawling into the Collector’s office, covered in a chain of complaints that resembled a python, alarming onlookers. He was seen wearing a slipper on his head, breathing heavily, and expressing distress after his grievances went unheard. This dramatic act was intended to symbolize the pervasive corruption he believed was choking the system.

According to reports, Mukesh has accused the previous village head and her husband of massive corruption in construction and development works, involving crores of rupees. Despite filing complaints with various authorities, including the Lokayukta and the Chief Minister, no action had been taken by either the Neemuch administration or the state government.

Mukesh also alleged that the former District Panchayat CEO, Guruprasad, was involved in the corruption and demanded an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). His protest attracted a large crowd at the Collectorate, with even his clothes torn due to his unusual mode of protest. The newly appointed Collector, Himanshu Chandra, was informed and has ordered a fresh investigation into the matter.
