Man injured in daylight attack amid land dispute in northern India
A man was attacked in broad daylight in northern India’s Rajasthan due to an ongoing land dispute. Authorities are investigating the incident.
The incident took place in the Basni Sangaria area of Jodhpur on October 8.
Visuals showed a young man sitting calmly on a parked bike when two individuals approached him. After a brief conversation that lasts only a few seconds, one of the men pulls out a gun. Without warning, he shoots the biker, causing him to slump over from the impact. The two attackers quickly flee the scene as the injured man collapses, falling off his bike and onto the ground, lifeless.
The deceased, identified as Subhash Bishnoi, had recently been released on bail after serving time in jail over a violent land dispute.
According to police reports, the victim’s family had been embroiled in a longstanding land dispute with another group in their village. Earlier in January, Subhash and his family were accused of attacking members of the opposing side, which led to his imprisonment. He was released on bail just two months ago.
On the day of the incident, assailants fired shots at Subhash in the Sangaria area, leaving him fatally injured. The CCTV footage of the attack has surfaced, showing the moments leading up to and during the shooting. Law enforcement, led by DCP West Rajshree Raj, arrived at the scene promptly to begin their investigation.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting a lockdown of the area. Police officials confirmed that efforts are underway to track down the suspects, and the investigation into the murder is ongoing.
