Man in northern India tied to tree by villagers, brutal incident

The incident took place in Hardaspur village in Raebareli district on July 4.
Visuals showed a poorly nourished man bare chested; only a half pant covering his lower abdominal region was ruthlessly tied to a tree and he was begging to the villagers telling them every human makes small mistakes but the villagers were not letting him go.
The incident, which occurred in the Mill Area Police Station jurisdiction, has drawn significant attention and outrage.
According to reports, the youth, accused of theft, was captured by the villagers who then administered a brutal form of punishment by tying him to a tree in a semi-naked state.
Local authorities were alerted to the incident. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are working to identify the individuals responsible for the assault.
