Man-eating wolf captured in northern India after series of deadly attacks

The incident took place in Bahraich district on August 29.

According to reports, the capture marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to control the terror that has gripped the region for the past month and a half. This wolf, part of a pack that has killed nine people and injured 35 others, was apprehended near the banks of a river after an intense search operation.
The operation, known as “Operation Bhediya,” involves 16 forest department teams, over 200 policemen, and advanced technologies such as drone mapping and thermal imaging cameras. The forest department had already captured three wolves, but the attacks continued, leading to widespread fear among the local population. Thursday’s capture brings the total number of wolves caught to four, but authorities believe more wolves are still on the loose.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is personally overseeing the operation, and additional measures are being taken to protect villagers, including the installation of doors and toilets in homes and increased night patrols. The latest capture is a crucial step in restoring safety to the affected villages, though the search continues for other wolves in the area.
