Major road collapse in northeastern India due to continuous rainfall

In a significant infrastructure setback, the main road connecting two cities in northeastern India’s Assam, has been completely washed away as a result of continuous rainfall due to Remal cyclone.
The incident took place at Harangajao, the road connecting Haflong and Silchar on May 28.
Visuals showed the damaged road which has disrupted transportation.
This incident has rendered National Highway 54E impassable, severely disrupting travel and transportation in the region. Authorities have advised against traveling on this route until further notice, as repair and recovery efforts are expected to take considerable time.
This road is a crucial link in the Dima Hasao district, and its destruction impacts both local residents and wider logistics, including essential services and supplies.
