In a significant crackdown on gold smuggling, officers from the Director of Revenue Enforcement have apprehended three individuals and seized 7.72 pounds (3.5 kilograms) of gold in southern India’s Telangana. The gold was being transported in a Maruti Suzuki car with a hidden compartment.

 

The incident took place at the Panthangi Toll Plaza in Choutuppal Mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri District on August 2.

Visuals showed at a toll plaza, a vehicle passing through was found to contain a large stash of drugs. During a thorough inspection, officers discovered the drugs hidden beneath the seats, revealing a significant cache. The scene was marked by the tense and meticulous process of uncovering the concealed contraband.

 

Law enforcement officials at the Panthangi Toll Plaza made a breakthrough in the fight against gold smuggling. Acting on reliable intelligence, the Director of Revenue Enforcement conducted a thorough search of a Maruti Suzuki vehicle traveling from Chennai to Bidar. The vehicle, which had a custom-made compartment under the handbrake, was found to be concealing gold.

 

The three individuals in custody were arrested and are currently being interrogated to determine the full extent of their operations and potential connections to larger smuggling networks. Authorities have seized the gold and the vehicle as evidence. A comprehensive investigation is underway to uncover the masterminds behind this smuggling ring and their broader network.

 

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to curb illegal gold trade and ensure that such illicit activities are met with stringent legal actions.
