Major fire breaks out at 15-storey high-rise in western India

The incident took place at the Times Tower building, located in the Kamala Mills compound, Lower Parel, Mumbai on September 6.
Visuals showed a part of a building was engulfed in a raging fire, with flames spreading slowly but steadily across the structure. The fire’s intensity was evident as bright orange and red flames licked the walls, reaching higher floors. Occasionally, fiery embers and small tongues of flame could be seen falling downwards, creating a dramatic and dangerous scene below. Thick, dark smoke billowed into the sky, adding to the chaotic and alarming atmosphere. The fire seemed relentless, consuming everything in its path as it continued to spread through the building.
A major fire broke out at the 15-storey Times Tower building located in the Kamala Mills compound, Lower Parel, Mumbai, at around 6:30 am on Friday, according to civic officials. The Mumbai Fire Brigade classified the blaze as a level 2 fire, indicating a significant incident, and immediately dispatched eight fire engines and other firefighting vehicles to the site.
The fire, which reportedly started from the electrical duct, has been confined to the floors between the third and seventh levels of the building. As of now, five fire engines and seven jumbo water tankers are actively involved in extinguishing the flames.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Sandeep Deshpande expressed concerns about the incident, pointing out that this is the third fire outbreak in the Kamala Mills compound in five years. He alleged that the buildings in the area are not undergoing regular fire audits and criticized the rise of illegal constructions that are reportedly supported by local Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).
Despite the severity of the blaze, there have been no reports of any casualties so far, and the fire brigade continues its efforts to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further.
