Major drug bust in southern India: 140 Kg of marijuana seized
In a significant crackdown in southern India’s Telangana, police seized a massive 140 kg of marijuana, uncovering a major drug smuggling operation.
The incident took place in Zaheerabad mandal of Chiragpally area in Sangareddy district on September 10.
Visuals showed the enormous quantity of seized marijuana, neatly packed in plastic covers, displayed at the police station. Officers provided a detailed account of the raid and the massive drug haul during a press conference.
According to reports, a joint team of police and task force conducted the raid, discovering the marijuana hidden in a Bolero pickup vehicle.
The drugs were being transported from Malkangiri in Odisha to Maharashtra, with an estimated value of up to Rs 35 lakh. The drug smugglers attempted to conceal the marijuana under cement concrete in the van, mimicking scenes from popular cinema. Two individuals involved in the smuggling operation have been arrested. The case has been registered, and an intensified investigation is underway.
