Major disruption! Goods train derails in eastern India impacting train services

n a significant incident in eastern India’s Jharkhand, two wagons of a goods train derailed, leading to the diversion of 15 trains from the affected route.

The incident took place at Tupkadih station in Bokaro district on September 26.

Visuals showed the two overturned coaches on the railway track, while the train’s structure appeared severely disrupted. Local residents were seen standing on top of the train as the clearance work progressed, with workers, police, and administrative personnel actively involved in the operation.

According to reports, the derailment took place near the northern cabin yard of Tupkadih station, affecting train movement on the Bokaro-Gomo section. “One of the impacted lines has been rectified while work is underway to restore the other line to ensure smooth traffic,” stated Sumit Narula, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Adra division of South Eastern Railway. The goods train, transporting a steel consignment from Bokaro Steel Plant, overturned on the main line between Tupkadih and Bokaro stations around 9 PM last night.

Several trains were stranded, causing inconvenience to passengers, and the railways have initiated an inquiry into the derailment.
