Major bust! 900 kg of marijuana seized at interstate checkpoint in southern India

In a significant operation in southern India’s Telangana, police seized 900 kg of marijuana from an interstate gang at the Lakshmipur checkpost.

The incident took place in the Talamadugu border in the Adilabad district on September 25.

Visuals showed the police jeeps arriving at the scene, where the seized drugs were stored. Officers were seen inspecting the truck and the packed marijuana, which was bundled in plastic packets. The police team took official photographs of the confiscated items, along with the two arrested suspects.

According to reports, the Adilabad sub-divisional police arrested two members of an interstate gang involved in drug trafficking. The contraband, valued at approximately Rs 2.25 crore, was transported in a lorry that was also seized along with two mobile phones.

Superintendent of Police Gaush Alam addressed the media, revealing that the eight-member gang supplied large quantities of marijuana from the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha forest area to various states. The arrested individuals were identified as Wasim alias Waseem Ansari, the lorry driver, and Arman, the container lorry cleaner. Several other gang members are currently absconding.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted vehicle checks and identified the container vehicle traveling from Adilabad to Maharashtra.
