Major accident averted on expressway in western India after truck runs down slope due to brake failure
An incident took place where a truck’s brakes failed in western India’s Maharashtra.
The incident took place in Khandala on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on December 10.
Visuals showed an out-of-control truck lost its balance and started bumping here and there.
The cement loaded in that truck was also being spilled out. While moving ahead, he could have hit another vehicle but due to the divider on the road, no accident happened.
The video taken by the onlookers shows how important the side rails are and how the side rails saved the truck from falling down from the bridge.
The loaded truck was carrying sacks of cement when the accident happened. The brakes of the truck failed at Khandala Ghat, which is a steep downhill. The driver of the truck identified as Sanjay Yadav noticed that the brakes were not responding and decided to slow down and park the truck on the side of the expressway using the handbrake.
There is no loss of life reported in the incident. Khalapur police have registered a case against the truck driver and have detained the driver too. Careless drivers not doing proper inspection of the trucks is one of the major causes of such accidents.
