Mahakumbh designates no-vehicle zone due to anticipated crowd, Handcarts deployed for assistance
Mahakumbh, a sacred religious pilgrimage, has implemented a no-vehicle zone and no-VIP zone due to the anticipated crowd.
The Mahakumbh is taking place in Prayagraj city, in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, from January 13 to February 26. All passes have been made invalid from January 25 to February 3.
Visuals show a huge crowd of devotees walking toward the Mahakumbh, carrying their bags and luggage on their heads. A vehicle is seen struggling to move due to the crowd.
According to sources, attendees are required to leave their vehicles in the designated parking lot and walk approximately 2 miles to the Sangam, where devotees take the sacred bath. Handcarts have been set up at the Mela grounds to transport people to the Sangam, charging $1.16 (₹100) per person.
This incredible festival draws millions of devotees and travellers from around the world, as Mahakumbh 2025 is particularly special due to the rare celestial alignment that occurs once every 144 years.
