Locked doors ignite fury as passengers ransack overcrowded train at railway station
In a shocking incident, a group of frustrated passengers vandalized a coach of the Mumbai-bound Antyodaya Express. The unrest was sparked by locked doors preventing additional passengers from boarding the already overcrowded train.
The incident took place at Basti railway station in Basti district, Uttar Pradesh on December 17.
The visual shows an individual using a heavy stone to break the glass of the entry door, while an angry crowd attempts to smash the door. Meanwhile, others are seen dismantling the iron grill of a window to gain access to the coach. This chaos triggers panic among the passengers inside the train.
According to reports, the train involved, the 15101 Chhapra-Mumbai Antyodaya Express, was reportedly packed with passengers who had secured the coach from within to prevent further boarding. This led to rising tensions among those waiting at the station, culminating in the vandalism.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Basti has filed an FIR under Railway Act 145 against unidentified individuals responsible for the damage. So far, no arrests have been made, but investigations are underway.
Chandra Mohan Mishra, the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of the Northeastern Railway, addressed the media, stating, “We have the footage of the vandalism, and our teams are attempting to establish the identity of the men involved in the matter.”

As investigations continue, the focus remains on ensuring such incidents do not recur in the future.
