Locals panic after black panther appears in middle of road in eastern India

The incident took place in the Kurseong Forest Division area, in Kurseong, a town nestled in the picturesque Darjeeling district. The video went viral on October 13.
Visuals showed the dramatic moment as the panther was spotted on the slope of a hill.
It suddenly jumped onto the road, crossing from one side and quickly disappearing into the bushes on the other. This left onlookers in disbelief.
Devesh Pandey, the divisional forest officer of Kurseong, mentioned that they received the video footage from an officer in the Indian Air Force. “For security reasons, we prefer not to reveal the exact location where the animal was seen. However, it was somewhere in Bagora, situated at an elevation of 6,000 feet above sea level,” Pandey stated. He added that the melanistic leopard is known for its reclusive nature
