A lightning strike at international airport in southern India’s Goa caused temporary disruption of airport operations when it struck around 5:15 PM, damaging the runway edge lights.
The incident took place in Manohar International Airport (MIA) on May 29.
Visuals showed how lightning striked at the airport affecting the runway lines.
The incident led to the diversion of six flights. The airport authorities acted swiftly to rectify the damage, ensuring that normal operations resumed within two hours. Passengers were informed of the adverse weather conditions that led to the incident and were assured that safety remains the airport’s top priority.
