A leopard was captured on CCTV crossing a flyover in southern India’s Telangana early morning, sparking concern and heightened alert in the area.
The incident took place near the Phase 1 toll plaza, close to the Panak India Company area and the Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) ground in Electronic City, Phase 1, Bengaluru on September 17.
Visuals showed a leopard was seen near the toll crossing a flyover, and the entire scene was captured on CCTV. In the footage, the leopard’s silhouette is visible as it cautiously steps onto the road, moving gracefully across the flyover. As it reaches the middle of the flyover, it suddenly turns back, running swiftly in the opposite direction, disappearing into the night. The whole incident, though brief, highlights the unexpected presence of wildlife in an urban setting.
In the early hours of Tuesday, a leopard was spotted in Bengaluru’s tech hub, Electronic City, crossing a flyover near the Phase 1 toll plaza around 3:00 AM. CCTV footage shows the big cat briefly crossing the road before darting back in the opposite direction.
The animal is believed to have moved from the Panak India Company area to the grounds of Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF), prompting immediate precautions at the training center. Sunil Joshi, the Principal of NTTF, confirmed that a camera near the toll gate captured the leopard near the compound wall.
“We conducted thorough checks on our campus, including reviewing CCTV footage. Although no sign of the leopard has been found on the premises, we are remaining cautious,” Joshi stated.
This sighting comes just weeks after a similar incident in the Jigani area, where another leopard was seen strolling through the streets. Forest department officials suspect that it could be the same leopard, though efforts to track the animal’s current whereabouts are ongoing.
Authorities have heightened security in the area to avoid any untoward incidents, and forest department officials are on alert to capture the leopard if necessary.
