A leopard trapped in a snare in eastern India’s Odisha was successfully rescued by the Rapid Response Team (RRT), thanks to quick intervention, expert sedation, and timely medical treatment.
The incident took place in the Dhenkanal district on November 7.
Visuals showed an injured leopard lying on the ground, its eyes partially closed after being sedated by the medical rescue team. Team members, dressed in protective uniforms, carefully administer medicine and treat the wounds on the leopard’s body. They work with steady hands, applying ointments and bandages to ensure the leopard’s injuries are properly tended. Beside them is a large animal cage, open and ready. Once the treatment is complete, they gently lift the sedated leopard and place it securely inside the cage, preparing it for safe transportation and further care.
According to reports, responding swiftly, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) reached the location, where they carefully sedated and treated the injured animal. After receiving necessary medical care, the leopard was safely released, marking yet another successful operation by the RRT.
The RRT’s dedication to mitigating human-wildlife conflict in the region has been instrumental in safeguarding both wildlife and communities. This latest rescue underscores their critical role in handling wildlife emergencies with efficiency and care. Community members and wildlife officials alike praised the team’s outstanding commitment to conservation and the humane treatment of animals in distress.
