Leopard rescued by forest department officials after it falls into well in western India
A leopard was rescued by members of the forest department after it fell into a well in western India’s Maharashtra.
This incident happened in Gawadewadi village in Pune on April 22.
Visuals showed the leopard inside of the well. The forest department officials reached the spot and started work to rescue the wild animal. The leopard was trapped inside the well and the officials were seen lowering a cage into the well. The big cat entered the cage which was subsequently brought up by the officials. The leopard was then loaded on the back of a truck and taken away from the area.
Speaking to Newslions, RFO Smita Rajhans said that the male leopard, aged around one to one-and-a-half-years had entered the area in search of prey when it fell into the well. A farmer spotted the leopard inside the well after he had gone to take out water for irrigating his field. The forest department was informed and the leopard was rescued in an operation which lasted for three hours.
