Leopard rescued after straying into residential area
Forest department personnel rescued a leopard swiftly after it strayed into a residential area causing alarm among residents.
The incident took place in the Kumarpara area of Guwahati district in Assam eastern India and the leopard was captured on December 27.

Visuals show the leopard entering the building and resting in a corner of the staircase. Later footage shows officials capturing the leopard in a cage while onlookers watched the rescue.

Speaking to Newslions, Hemanta Adhikary, Range Forest Officer in Guwahati, explained that the big cat had been hiding in a house for the past two days. He added that the leopard was captured using a tranquilizer dart. The leopard, which had been roaming the area for some time, was eventually spotted beneath a vehicle at the residence. After several hours of effort, the leopard was successfully captured and transported to the state zoo for care and further examination.
