This incident happened in Umaria district on January 14.
Visuals showed the leopard being rescued by the forest officials. The leopard was treated by wildlife veterinarian Dr Nitin Gupta. According to a report, the leopard was spotted roaming about in the field of a man named Chandan Baiga, a resident of the Amdi village in the district. The information about the wild animal’s presence was given to the forest department, who arrived at the spot and took the situation under control. The leopard was captured and treated by the officials in an operation which involved the Divisional Forest Officer and the Forest Range Officer among others. After a telephonic conversation with the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, the leopard was taken to Mukundpur, as per the former’s instructions.
