Leopard captured after it terrorised locals by straying into residential area in southern India
A leopard which had terrorised locals after straying into a residential area in southern India’s Karnataka.
This incident happened at the Bommanahalli industry area on November 1.
Visuals showed the officials making an effort to capture the leopard. The wild animal leapt about in the bushes as a crane was being used to catch it and just it got caught into a massive net that was laid in the area. A gunshot was heard just as it was captured in the net. Later on, a tranquiliser was removed from the body of the big cat as it laid caught in the net with officials surrounding it. The leopard was then put into a cage and taken away from the area. According to a report, the leopard was eventually shot after attempts to tranquilise it failed. It was on the prowl in the past few days after being initially spotted on October 28. The operation saw the involvement of over 60 officials.
The leopard was spotted at several places which include an apartment in Kudlu Gate, Brookfield and also at a school. The officials had tried to capture it in a cage but after their attempts failed, it was shot. The big cat later died because of its injuries. Also, it had injured a veterinarian who was rushed to the hospital and is undergoing treatment.
