June 22, 2024
A significant fire broke out at a polymer manufacturing factory in western India’s Dadra and Nagar Haveli, a union territory.
The incident occurred in Silvassa, the capital city of the region, on June 22.
Visuals showed thick black smoke pouring out of the factory and firefighters trying their best to bring the fire under control.
According to reports, emergency services responded quickly, deploying multiple fire tenders to contain the blaze. The fire started in the afternoon, causing extensive damage to the facility.
Although the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, initial reports suggest that it might have been triggered by a chemical reaction within the factory. Firefighting operations were challenging due to the presence of flammable materials, but the response teams managed to control the flames after several hours.
No casualties have been reported so far, and authorities are conducting a thorough assessment to determine the extent of the damage and the impact on the local environment and economy.
