Landslide on main road in northern India blocks traffic
A massive chunk of a mountain collapsed in northern India’s Uttarakhand, causing severe traffic congestion. Fortunately, no vehicles were passing through at the time of the incident.
The incident took place on Malari Road in Chamoli district and the video went viral on September 23.
Visuals showed on the Malari road, a large section of the mountain had collapsed, sending a massive chunk of rock tumbling down. The road was completely blocked, with debris scattered across the asphalt, creating a chaotic scene that felt both terrifying and hazardous. The jagged edges of the broken rock contrasted sharply with the lush greenery surrounding it, highlighting the destructive force of nature. Thankfully, at that moment, no one was passing by, sparing them from the potential danger of the landslide. The air was thick with a sense of unease, as the remnants of the mountain loomed ominously above, a stark reminder of nature’s unpredictability.
In a dramatic turn of events, a significant portion of a mountain in Chamoli gave way, resulting in a landslide that obstructed Malari Road. Thankfully, the landslide occurred when the road was deserted, preventing any injuries or fatalities. The incident serves as a reminder of the region’s vulnerability to geological shifts and the importance of monitoring such areas for potential hazards.
