Landslide hits same mountain again in northern India, road access disrupted

A severe landslide occurred in northern India’s Uttrakhand, the same area where a highway was previously washed away, causing temporary disruption to the region’s accessibility.

 

The incident took place between Gaurikund and Sonprayag at Manukutia on the Kedarnath route in Sonprayag in Rudraprayag district on August 2.

Visuals showed on the mountain, a terrifying landslide was in progress. Rocks, soil, and debris tumbled down the slope with force, creating a cascading flow of destruction. People standing at a distance were visibly shaken, their faces filled with fear as they watched the earth and rubble engulf the area below. The scene was marked by a chaotic, unstoppable descent of natural material, adding to the sense of imminent danger.

 

A significant landslide has struck Sonprayag once again, impacting the region between Gaurikund and Sonprayag at Manukutia. The landslide follows a previous incident where the entire highway was washed away. The recent event has led to a temporary block in road access, although no immediate reports of casualties or injuries have been noted. The area remains under observation to ensure the safety of the public.
