Jet mishap averted: pilot safely ejects as Sukhoi aircraft crashes in western India

In a heart-stopping incident in western India’s Maharashtra, a Sukhoi aircraft plunged to the ground, sending shockwaves through the region.

The incident took place near Nashik on June 4.

Visuals showed the fire coming out of the crashed plane, smoke engulfing the entire area making visibility nil and creating panic amongst the crowd.

The mishap occurred in the Shirasgaon area of Niphad Taluka, engulfing the aircraft in flames, as captured in viral visuals circulating online.

However, amidst the chaos and billowing smoke, a tale of courage emerged. The pilot, whose identity remains undisclosed, managed to rescue himself from the stricken jet by deploying a parachute, according to Nashik rural SP Vikram Deshmane.

Eyewitnesses were taken aback as the Sukhoi spiralled downwards, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Fortunately, the absence of casualties provided a sigh of relief, attributing to the pilot’s swift actions.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the crash, leaving speculation ripe in the aftermath. Nonetheless, the pilot’s successful escape stands as a testament to the rigorous training and preparedness of the defence forces.
