Intoxicated man climbs high-voltage tower in northern India, dances as rescue efforts unfold

In a dramatic incident in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, a man believed to be intoxicated climbed a high-voltage electric tower near Sector 113, drawing a massive crowd and triggering a two-hour emergency rescue operation.
The incident took place near a high-voltage electric tower in Sector 113 in Noida on November 10.
Visuals showed the man swaying and dancing precariously atop the high-tension structure.
According to reports the incident unfolded around 1:30 pm, when the man, suspected to be under the influence, climbed the tower and began dancing. As the news spread, local residents and passersby gathered near the metro station under the jurisdiction of the Sector 113 Police Station, watching anxiously as the man swayed dangerously atop the structure.
Emergency responders from the Noida police, fire department, and power authorities arrived quickly at the scene to mitigate the situation. Crowds watched as officials pleaded with the man to come down safely. A police official explained, “We assured him that his problems would be addressed and urged him to come down.”
The rescue operation, captured in footage that quickly circulated on social media, sparked widespread concern among viewers. After nearly two hours of coordinated efforts, the authorities successfully brought the man down, to the relief of the assembled crowd.
The police later stated that the man appeared mentally disturbed, although they are investigating whether intoxication played a role. He has been sent to a hospital for evaluation, and further investigations are underway to assess his mental and physical state.
