Intense rainfall, hailstorm hit northern India, streets inundated
Chamba, a district in northern India’s Himachal Pradesh has been hit with intense rainfall and hailstorm which has led to its streets being severely inundated.
This incident happened on April 21.
Visuals showed a road in this town which was left severely flooded as a result of the heavy rainfall. Water flowed at a strong current across the inundated road. The flow of the water was so intense that people stopped from venturing out, avoiding the risk of being carried away with the water. People were seen standing on the edge of the shops on one side of the road as the water flowed down the street. The higher reaches of the district, as per a report, has been receiving a lot of intermittent rainfall and snowfall and it has considerably brought the temperature and this has become a cause of concern for the wheat-harvesting crops. The Indian Meteorological Department has also predicted that such rains would continue in the state till April 24.
