IndiGo flight declares emergency after engine fails mid-air, lands safely in eastern India

The incident took place mid-air when the flight was en route to Bengaluru from Kolkata on August 30.
Visuals showed as the IndiGo flight soared through the night sky, sudden plumes of thick smoke billowed from the plane’s wings, emanating from the engines located underneath.
The aircraft, carrying 173 passengers and crew, experienced engine trouble shortly after takeoff. A passenger reported seeing flames from one of the engines, though this has not been confirmed by the airline or officials.
The pilot of flight 6E 0573 reported the emergency, prompting the runway to be cleared for a safe landing. The aircraft touched down on a single engine at 11:05 pm, with no injuries reported. The cause of the engine failure is under investigation.
