Indian Air Force MiG-29 crashes in northern India, both pilots eject safely

The incident took place at occurred near the Uttarlai Airbase, which is located in Barmer district on September 2.
Visuals showed a crashed fighter plane lying shattered on the ground, engulfed in fierce, towering flames. The wreckage was twisted and broken, with thick black smoke billowing into the night sky. The surrounding area was illuminated by the intense fire, casting eerie, flickering shadows over the debris-strewn ground.
According to reports an Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-29 fighter jet met with a serious technical malfunction during a routine night training mission near the Uttarlai Airbase. The aircraft, piloted by two IAF personnel, crashed into a field, fortunately avoiding nearby residential areas.
According to Air Force authorities, the pilots detected a severe technical issue mid-flight, which forced them to eject from the aircraft. Both pilots landed safely, and there have been no reports of casualties or property damage on the ground. The area where the crash occurred, approximately 400 meters from a populated zone, has been cordoned off by the Air Force.
Local police and administrative officials, including Barmer Collector Nishant Jain and District Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena, rushed to the scene following the incident. Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion followed by a fireball, leading many to initially believe it was a lightning strike.
Air Force authorities have confirmed the incident and announced a Court of Inquiry to investigate the cause of the crash. The crash site remains under strict control as the investigation proceeds.
