In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) of southern India’s Andhra Pradesh destroyed 14,200 bottles of illegal liquor, valued at approximately ₹18-20 lakhs (21,600 to 24,000 USD), using heavy machinery. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent Ramesh Reddy at Mambattu SEZ.

The incident took place at Mambattu SEZ in Sullurpet, which is located within the jurisdiction of Guduru Sub-Division in Tirupati District on August 23.


Visuals showed a JCB machine in action, crushing numerous bottles of illegal liquor with its powerful arm. The scene was intense, with glass shattering under the machine’s weight. Around the area, several police officers stood watch, ensuring the operation proceeded smoothly. The sound of breaking glass filled the air as the machine moved methodically. Local residents had gathered nearby, watching the destruction unfold with a mix of curiosity and approval. The operation was a significant display of law enforcement in action, sending a clear message against illegal activities.

In a major action against the illegal liquor trade, the Guduru Sub-Divisional Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) led by Assistant Superintendent Ramesh Reddy successfully destroyed 14,200 bottles of illegal liquor. The operation, which took place at Mambattu SEZ in Sullurpet, Tirupati District, saw the use of heavy JCB machinery to ensure that the seized liquor was thoroughly destroyed.

These bottles were seized by SEB officials during the recent election period, with the total value estimated to be between ₹18 to ₹20 lakhs ($21,600 to $24,000 USD). Ramesh Reddy, the Assistant Superintendent, highlighted that the successful seizure was a result of the diligent efforts of every officer in the Gudur Division, all of whom were vigilant in monitoring and intercepting illegal liquor operations.

He emphasized that the SEB will continue to take strict actions against those involved in the illegal liquor trade and thanked all SEB officers for their dedication and hard work in this operation. The destruction of such a large quantity of illegal liquor sends a strong message against illicit trade in the region.
