IAF MiG-29 fighter jet crashes in northern India; pilots eject safely
A MiG-29 fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in fields in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred during a routine exercise as the aircraft was returning from Adampur, Punjab.
The incident took place near Songa village in the Kagaroul area, which is close to Agra city on November 4.
Visuals showed a crashed plane lying in a field, engulfed in fierce flames that illuminated the darkening sky. Thick smoke billowed upwards, casting an ominous shadow over the scene. A few onlookers gathered at a safe distance, their expressions a mix of shock and concern as the wreckage smoldered, reduced to ash.
According to reports, the Indian Air Force’s MiG-29 fighter jet encountered trouble shortly after takeoff and crashed into agricultural fields. Fortunately, the two pilots aboard the aircraft managed to eject safely before the crash, avoiding any injuries.
According to a defense official, an investigation will be initiated, and a Court of Inquiry will be established to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The IAF expressed relief that the pilots survived and confirmed that safety protocols were followed during the routine exercise.
