Husband severs wife’s nose over dispute in northern India
In a horrifying incident in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, a man cut off his wife’s nose after a disagreement over her visit to her maternal home for the festival of Rakshabandhan.
The incident took place in Hardoi district on August 18.
Visuals showed the victim in a local health center, sitting in distress with her nose covered by a bandage, as she described the ordeal, visibly suffering in pain. The woman was later referred to a trauma center in Lucknow due to the severity of her injuries.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the Baniyani Purwa village of Kotwali Dehat. Rahul, a resident of the village, argued with his wife, Anita, who wanted to visit her mother’s house in Hardoi to tie Rakhi to her brother. When Rahul refused, the disagreement escalated into violence, resulting in him brutally cutting off her nose.
Hardoi Police quickly responded to the situation, initiating an investigation into the matter. They also shared updates on social media, including a statement from the City Area Officer regarding the domestic dispute.
