This incident happened at the Nawabganj police station area in Kanpur on April 12.
Visuals showed the locals attempting to capture the reptile as it appeared in the open. Local men tied up the reptile’s mouth with a strong rope and ensured it didn’t harm anyone. The men were seen carrying the massive crocodile away and tying it up before it could pose any harm to the people who were present at the spot. After tying up the reptile, it was carried away by the locals on a vehicle to be released into the Ganga river.
Speaking to Newslions SI Surendra Kumar said the police and local forest department officials rushed to the spot in a bid to capture the reptile which had come out of the dirty drain adjacent to the temple. The locals subsequently caught the animal and released it in the Ganga river. It is unclear though as to how the crocodile must have appeared in the area and it can be ascertained to the flood in Ganga river, which could have caused the reptile to come out into this area.
