Hoarding collapses due to strong wind in western India, horse injured
by ShravyaThree people and a horse were injured when a commercial hoarding collapsed on them in western India’s Maharashtra, due to heavy rains and strong winds.
The incident took place near Gulmohar Lawns in Loni Kalbhor on the Pune-Solapur highway in Pune district on May 18.
Visuals showed a hoarding collapsed onto a tempo, leaving a man injured on the ground. Bystanders are carrying the injured man away while another person is attempting to free a nearby tied-up horse.
According to the reports, upon receiving the information, a team from Loni Kalbhor police station arrived at the scene.
The police stated that the 40×40 feet hoarding opposite Gulmohar Lawns fell during the rains around 4:30 pm.
The hoarding collapsed on a tempo, a two-wheeler, and a horse that were seeking shelter beneath it. The injured individuals inside the tempo were identified as Akshay Suresh Korvi (27) from Bibvewadi, Mangesh Londhe (35) from Ganj Peth, and Bharat Sable (60).
Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan reported that Korvi and Londhe sustained minor injuries, while Sable, aged 60, was severely injured and taken to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment. A horse owned by Sanket Pradeshi was also injured.
“The hoarding was installed by Balasaheb Shinde and Sanjay Nawale from Kharadi. The collapsed structure is being cleared using cranes and cutters. An investigation is underway, and appropriate legal action will be taken,” said Chavan.
