Hindu Dalit shopkeeper’s store burned amid rising violence in Bangladesh
In a disturbing incident in Bangladesh, Islamist extremists looted and set fire to the shop of Rajan Chandra, a poor Hindu Dalit shopkeeper.
The incident took place in Bangladesh and the video went viral on August 7.
Visuals showed the burning shop, smoke engulfing the entire area and the poor shopkeeper rushing things out from the shop to save them from burning.
According to reports, this act of violence highlights the ongoing persecution of Hindus in the country, where 70% of the Hindu population comprises Dalits. Despite these atrocities, Indian advocates who traditionally champion Dalit rights remain silent.
The violence against Dalits in Bangladesh continues to escalate, leaving the Hindu community in fear. Those traditionally labeled as oppressors of Dalits are now raising their voices in support of justice for the victims. The silence of Dalit advocates in India on this issue is particularly concerning, given the severity of the situation.
