Heroic rescue by SDRF team in northern India: youth stuck midstream successfully saved
A daring rescue operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) of northern India’s Uttarakhand Police saved a young man stranded in the middle of the Mandakini River after his trolley became stuck midstream.
The incident took place near Agastyamuni, on the Mandakini River in Rudraprayag district on November 7.
Visuals showed a trolley, suspended on a cable, hangs mid-air over the river with a man trapped inside. As night falls, a rescue team arrives, navigating through the dark. They provide support from behind, forming a grip to pull him forward. Amidst a crowd of onlookers, the man is safely brought to the ground, escaping the perilous situation.
Under the direction of Sub-Inspector Ashish Dimri, an experienced SDRF team promptly arrived at the scene. Working in close coordination with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), local police, and fire services, they launched a swift rescue operation. Using the river rope-crossing technique, the SDRF team reached the young man and skillfully brought him safely to shore.
The joint effort demonstrated exceptional teamwork and technical expertise by the SDRF and other emergency services. Thanks to their bravery and coordination, Yogendra Singh was rescued without any injuries, emphasizing SDRF’s commitment to safeguarding lives during emergencies.
