Heavy rains in northern India cause vehicles to be swept away in Ganga River, SDRF rescues four

Heavy rainfall in northern India’s Uttarakhand led to a sudden surge in a seasonal stream near Kharkhari, causing multiple vehicles to be swept away into the Ganga River.

 

The incident took place in Haridwar region on June 30.

Visuals showed SDRF members in life boats rescuing people from the overflowed stream along with a car getting pulled out from the waters in a very damaged condition.

 

Speaking to Newslions, Vinit Vaibhav, SDRF Constable, Uttarakhand mentioned the incident, which occurred following intense rains, alarmed local residents and prompted immediate rescue operations.

 

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) swiftly responded to the situation. Under the leadership of ASI Pravindra Dhasmana, the SDRF team worked tirelessly to recover four vehicles from the river. The rescued vehicles were handed over to the district police.

 

This incident highlights the severe impact of monsoon rains in the region and the ongoing efforts of the SDRF to ensure safety and provide relief. Residents are urged to exercise caution during heavy rains and follow safety guidelines to prevent such incidents in the future.
