Heavy rains in central India cause flooded streets, biker fall into drain
In central India’s Chhattisgarh, heavy rains have disrupted life in several districts, with residents facing numerous challenges due to waterlogging.
The incident took place in Raigarh district and the video went viral on September 9.
Visuals showed the biker can be seen riding under a bridge when he fails to notice a pothole filled with water. As a result, both he and his bike plunge into the overflowing drain. Passersby rushed to help the young man, who was later able to retrieve his bike and leave.
According to reports, the downpours have led to drains overflowing onto roads, creating hazardous conditions for commuters.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday evening as monsoon rains continued to affect many areas in the state. While the biker sustained head injuries, local residents helped him reach a nearby hospital, though details about the hospital remain unclear.
The Meteorological Department has forecasted more rain for the next three days, with several low-lying areas already experiencing flooding. Raipur, the state capital, is also seeing continuous rain, providing some relief from heat and humidity, though it has caused significant waterlogging on several streets.
