Heavy rains flood temple and cause panic in southern India
Heavy rains have continued to cause chaos in various parts of southern India’s Kerala leaving residents in a state of panic.
The incident took place at Manappuram Sree Mahadeva Temple, Aluva of Ernakulam district on July 16.
Visuals showed the main temple building and its surrounding premises submerged under 3-4 feet of water.
According to reports, the situation in Kerala is set to worsen as the weather department predicts more rainfall, particularly in the northern regions, until July 19. A yellow alert has been issued for seven districts: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad.

Local authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions as they continue to monitor the situation and provide assistance where needed. The persistent heavy rains and flooding highlight the ongoing challenges faced by the people of Kerala during the monsoon season.
