Severe waterlogging in northern India’s Rajasthan, following heavy rainfall has transformed roads into rivers, with motorcycles floating on submerged streets, disrupting daily life for residents.

 

The incident took place at Old Tonk Area of Tonk District and the video went viral on July 14.

Visuals showed in a narrow street, the rainwater had accumulated to a considerable height. The flow of water was swift and forceful, resembling a river in full flow. Residents were seen desperately trying to save their motorcycles, which were floating along the makeshift waterway. Some stood outside their homes, watching the surreal scene unfold before them, as if their tranquil alley had transformed into a bustling riverbed overnight.

 

In a dramatic turn of events, Tonk has been grappling with severe waterlogging after heavy rainfall inundated the region. Videos circulating online depict motorcycles floating along what were once busy streets, now submerged under several feet of water. The deluge has severely disrupted daily activities, forcing residents to navigate through waist-deep water and causing considerable inconvenience.

 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued predictions of continued rainfall across several divisions, including Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, and Jodhpur, over the next 24 hours. Authorities in Tonk are currently working to mitigate the impact of the flooding, urging caution among residents and advising against unnecessary travel in affected areas.

 

The situation remains tense as local administration and emergency services mobilize to address the aftermath of the heavy rainfall. Efforts are underway to drain the waterlogged areas and restore normalcy, though challenges persist due to the intensity of the downpour. As the region braces for further rainfall, residents are advised to stay updated with official alerts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
