Heavy rainfall submerges northeastern India; residents struggle with waterlogged streets

With water levels rising to alarming heights, pedestrians are finding it increasingly difficult to traverse the inundated roads, often resorting to makeshift arrangements to avoid getting drenched.
Motorists, too, are facing a daunting task as they navigate through flooded streets, risking damage to their vehicles and encountering hazards such as potholes obscured by the murky water. Car and bike riders are forced to wade through the deluge cautiously, with some opting to wait it out until conditions improve.
Local authorities are grappling with the situation, working tirelessly to mitigate the impact of the heavy rainfall. Efforts are underway to clear blocked drains and alleviate flooding in critical areas. However, the scale of the inundation poses a formidable challenge, requiring concerted efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued advisories cautioning residents about the possibility of further rainfall in the region and urging them to exercise caution. As Haflong continues to grapple with the aftermath of the downpour, residents remain vigilant, hoping for respite from the relentless rains and a return to normalcy in the days to come.
