Heartwarming dedication! Elderly couple turns their house into sanctuary for 130 cats

In an incredible act of kindness, an elderly couple has been providing shelter and food to 130 cats for around 13 years, turning their home into a sanctuary for felines.
The cats reside with the couple in Belalu village, in Belthangady town, in southern India’s Karnataka.
Visuals shot on February 1 show the kittens in a protective shelter and playing actively near the house. The couple, Rajesh Gowda and Seethamma are petting the moggies and helping mother cats stay with their babies. The feline family has taken over the entire house and farm. The pets eagerly rush toward Rajesh’s feeding spot, enjoying their meal as he feeds them. The couple is seen playing with a cat on their farm, offering a glimpse into the peaceful life they share with their purring companions.

The couple does not have children, so they decided to adopt a female cat and named her Chomu, in memory of a cow they sold years ago due to unavoidable circumstances, which left them heartbroken. Since then, their love for cats has grown over time, leading them to domesticate Chomu’s descendants and other cats, creating a large feline family.
Rajesh and Seethamma are farmers, growing areca nut trees, coconut trees, and betel leaves on their farm. They also own two cows, and the income from these activities sustains their livelihood. In addition to providing shelter, they feed the cats with leftover food from local hotels, spending approximately $3.44 (Rs 300) daily to ensure the cats are well-fed and content.
To accommodate their growing family, they built a dedicated shelter for the cats, which includes water facilities, sleeping areas, and is cleaned regularly. The shelter also has adequate lighting to ensure the cats are safe and comfortable.
Rajesh and Seethamma have devoted their lives to caring for cats, treating them like their own children. Their dedication and efforts are a testament to their genuine love for the pets.
