Head-on collision causes van to overturn on national highway

In a horrific incident, a van and a car collided on National Highway 2, causing the van to lose control, overturn, and drag along the highway for several meters.

The incident took place near the Dorma Petrol Pump in Saini Kotwali, Kaushambi district of  Uttar Pradesh, northern India on January 14.

Visuals depict a van collision and overturned on the road. This led to emitting thick smoke, with several bystanders approaching to assist.

As per reports, the collision involved a Maruti van and an XUV car. The impact caused the Maruti to overturn and skid along the highway for several meters before coming to a stop. Thick smoke began to rise from the vehicle as locals rushed to rescue those trapped inside. Six people were injured and promptly taken to the hospital.

Govind, a resident of Auraiya district, had traveled to Prayagraj Maha Kumbh for a holy dip in his Maruti van. On his return journey to Auraiya, his vehicle collided with an XUV near Dorma Petrol Pump. The impact sent the XUV over the divider, causing it to swerve onto the opposite road.

Employees from the petrol pump were quick to reach the site and assist in rescuing the injured. Those hurt in the accident include Anita Devi, Ajay, Govind, and Radha.

Upon receiving the alert, the Saini police arrived at the scene and, with the help of an ambulance, transported the injured to the hospital.

DSP Awadhesh Vishwakarma confirmed that the collision near the Dorma Petrol Pump on National Highway 2 left six individuals injured. All victims have been hospitalized, and further investigation is in progress.
