As Americans prepare to vote in the US Presidential Election on November 5, support for candidates transcends borders, with prayers being held in northern India’s Delhi. A hawan, or sacred fire ritual, was conducted for the victory of Donald Trump, led by spiritual leader Mahamandelshwar Swami Vedmutinand Saraswati.

The incident took place in Delhi on November 3.

Visuals showed a group of Hindu priests and spiritual leaders gathered to perform a havan ritual, seated around a sacred fire. Surrounding them, devotees held up posters displaying Donald Trump’s photo, expressing their support through prayer. The priests chanted mantras, adding offerings to the fire, creating an atmosphere filled with devotion. Smoke and flames rose from the hawan kund, casting a glow on the faces of the attendees, all intent on invoking blessings for Trump’s success in the upcoming US Presidential election.

With the US Presidential Election just a day away, the intense campaigning between former President Donald Trump, representing the Republicans, and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic contender, has captured global attention. Amid this high-stakes race, Indians are also showing their support, notably through prayers and rituals in favor of their preferred candidate.

This ritual, rooted in Hindu tradition, reflects the fervent support the former US President has garnered internationally. With the election scheduled for November 5, this gesture highlights how the race has become a worldwide spectacle, particularly in swing states such as North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, which are expected to determine the election outcome.

Recent polls by The New York Times and Siena College reveal a tight contest, with Harris showing strength in North Carolina and Georgia, while Trump maintains a narrow lead in Arizona. The survey indicates a potential split in swing states, suggesting one of the closest races in American election history. According to these polls, Harris is expected to hold a slim lead in Nevada, with an estimated vote share of 49 percent, compared to Trump’s forecast of 46 percent in North Carolina.

As the countdown to Election Day continues, the world, including parts of India, awaits the outcome of one of the most closely-watched presidential elections in recent times.
