Government bus rams into sweet shop in southern India, driver negligence cited

A TNSTC bus crashed into a sweet shop in southern India’s Tamil Nadu, with officials attributing the accident to the driver’s failure to follow road safety rules.

The incident took place at Dindigul district on June 10.

Visuals showed a speeding bus crashing into a sweet shop. Inside the shop, a woman barely escaped with her life, managing to flee just in time. The impact caused significant damage, with the shop’s entire stock shattered and scattered due to the bus plowing through.

According to reports the accident occurred at 1:45 p.m. as the bus was departing the Dindigul bus stand. Instead of proceeding slowly, the driver accelerated and failed to properly navigate the turn onto the road, causing the vehicle to plow directly into a nearby shop.

“The bus was operated the previous day without any maintenance-related issues,” the General Manager stated. “The negligent attitude of the bus driver led to the accident.”

The statement emphasized that departmental action has been initiated against the driver for not following road safety rules. This incident underscores the critical importance of adherence to safety protocols by all drivers to prevent such accidents in the future.
