Furious villagers assault revenue officers during demolition drive in northern India

In a violent incident in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, villagers assaulted two revenue officers during a demolition drive.

The incident took place in Ukhra village of Farrukhabad district on September 30.

Visuals showed enraged villagers relentlessly thrashing the officers, while police on the scene struggled to control the chaos. Despite efforts to restore order, the attack continued.

According to reports, the confrontation occurred in the presence of district panchayat president Monika Yadav, along with other officials, including the CO and SDM. The attack unfolded after the officers, accompanied by local leaders, visited the village following the demolition of 18 houses on Panchayat land. Villagers, still angered by the action, seized official documents during the assault, and these documents are still unaccounted for.

Ajit Dubey, president of the Revenue Officers’ Association, confirmed the severity of the attack, stating that the officers were severely beaten, and government files were destroyed and stolen.
