Four tourists narrowly escape as SUV plunges into canal in southern India

In the early hours of today, four tourists from Hyderabad experienced a harrowing escape when their luxury SUV, a Ford Endeavour, plunged into a canal in southern India’s Kerala.
The incident took place in near Kurappanthara in Kottayam on May 25.
Visuals showed how the car and the tourists were rescued by the local authorities and the people nearby.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. as they were en route to the popular tourist destination of Alappuzha, following directions from Google Maps.
The driver of the vehicle explained that he mistook the canal for a waterlogged road due to heavy rainfall, which obscured visibility and made it difficult to discern the path ahead. Fortunately, all four occupants were rescued without injury.
Local authorities responded swiftly to the scene, ensuring the safety of the tourists and managing the vehicle’s retrieval from the canal. The tourists, who had been traveling to explore the scenic backwaters of Alappuzha, expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance.
