Forest officials rescue leopard cub found tied to tree in northern India
A leopard cub was tied with a rope to a tree in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place in Mundra Kurd village, Chandpur range in Bijnor district on May 4.
The visuals showed the leopard cub lying unconscious on the ground, its neck and legs securely bound with a thick rope to a tree, causing it to struggle for breath. Surrounding bystanders were making noise, and one individual was observed poking the cub with a stick.
According to reports, Chandpur Ranger Dushyant Kumar verified the authenticity of the video. Upon receiving the information, he promptly arrived at Mundra Khurd village, where a crowd of approximately 250-300 people had gathered. The leopard cub was swiftly rescued and taken for a medical examination to ensure its safety. Currently, the cub is secure and has been relocated to the range premises. Estimated to be about 5 to 6 months old, an investigation will be initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the cub being tied with a rope.
