Forest Department nabs fifth ‘killer’ wolf behind multiple attacks in northern India
In a critical operation in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, the Forest Department captured the fifth ‘killer’ wolf responsible for several attacks on villagers.
The incident took place in Bahraich district on September 10.
Visuals showed the wolf confined in a cage, surrounded by Forest Department officials closely monitoring its movements. The captured wolf, a female, is now being transported to a rescue shelter for further assessment.
According to reports, one more wolf remains uncaptured, and efforts to apprehend it are ongoing. Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ajeet Pratap Singh confirmed the successful capture and revealed that the last remaining wolf, a male, had already been sighted. “We are doing our best to catch the last wolf, and our efforts continue daily,” Singh stated. Notably, this operation was completed between 5:30 and 6:30 am, without the use of drones, as the wolves had become wary of them. Increased vigilance in the village is underway to ensure the safety of the residents.
